how to make an edible bowl

Edible Watermelon Bowl

Edible Watermelon Bowl

I love how these edible watermelon ice cream bowls turned out, especially since they were so easy to create.

If you plan on having guests for dinner these would WOW their senses.  Grab some balloons, melt a few cups ofcandy wafers, throw in a HUGE splash of flavor and you’ll create a delicious dessert dish.

Ingredients:

Directions:

#1 Prepare the candy melts

These candy melts will melt rather quickly.  I recommend starting with the darker green and melting over a low heat, then pour into a bowl.

Then quickly add the lighter green candy melts to a small pot (or even the same pot, less mess to clean up and the color won’t be affected)

how to make an edible bowl

# 2  Add the lighter green to a squeeze bottle (plus, add your pop of flavor)

You can find the squeeze bottle in the kitchen area of your supermarket or even Target . . . or I like to be really efficient and just have it shipped to my door.  Once the melted candy is in the squeeze bottle, add 3 drops of Lime Essential Oil.  This will give the bowls a burst of flavor in contrast to the sherbet.

#3   Add Lime green squiggles to the bowl

#4 Balloon time

Blow up 1 – 2 balloons to a small/medium size, then let it go for a swim in the bowl of melted candy.

#5 Let the balloon bowl harden

Rest the balloon on a cookie sheet with wax paper for 15 minutes between each dipping, dip up to 3 – 4 times to obtain the thickness you would like with the bowl.

#6  Remove the balloon(s)

I use scotch tape near the tie and then cut it.  No chance of popping! The balloon will deflate and you will need ot gently peel it away from the bowl.

#7 “Dust” or brush off the extra pieces of hardened candy

#8 Add the remainder of the “watermelon” and pop in your chocolate “seeds”

Make as many bowls as you would like, just make sure you have plenty of ice cream to fill ‘em up.

Love & Chocolate,

Becca

Mother's Day Clay Diffuser Charm

Mother’s Day Essential Oil Diffuser Charm

Mother’s Day Essential Oil Diffuser Charm

Ask any Mom what she wants for Mother’s Day and she’ll tell you something homemade.

Homemade includes a little time, a little care and all from the heart.

I of course, love to give chocolate and sometimes I’ll add a printable tag to my mason jar full of chocolate.  But I decided to take it up a notch with these clay essential oil diffusers, that are monogrammed and/or stamped with something that speaks to home.

This is a Clay Diffuser, meaning, with essential oil dropped onto it, like Peppermint or Cinnamon or Citrus . . . the options are endless because not only are oils yummy to smell but can have positive impacts on one’s health.  Its like a candle but even better! It can be placed in a car (always a much needed place, right?) or a sock drawer, closet, mud room, even worn around the neck (short or long necklace).

You could give just the clay diffuser itself or you could do this (pictured below).  Using a piece of twine, tie it around a mason jar.  This mason jar is filled with my Lavender Shortbread White Chocolate Cookies that I shared how to make in this article.

These very special cookies I made even have edible flowers on them!

So essentially, you are giving your Mom a bouquet of flowers, yummy cookies and a personalized multipurpose diffuser.

You can make your own diffuser and add these essential oils to them here; I keep an essential oil basics kit on hand depending on what my body needs that day.  You can also purchase the Clay Diffuser for Car, Home, Necklace in my Etsy shop.
Clay diffuser essential oil necklace
Here’s a sweet gift for your Mom for the non-Bakers  =)  Don’t worry, there is plenty of chocolate out there already made for you.
You’ll need a mason jar and hershey kisses then add a small monogrammed diffuser they can use as a long or short necklace.

I tied a monogrammed clay diffuser charm around the mason jar filled with chocolate kisses.  So cute! This is totally DIY for Mom’s and you can purchase the diffuser charm here on my Etsy Shop or comment below and I will send one to you.
If you want to give your Mom lots of love, tie on both clay diffuser medallions like this:

Lavender White Chocolate Shortbread Cookies

Lavender White Chocolate Shortbread Cookies

I made this recipe with Mother’s Day coming up.

It reminds me of when I would draw my Mom a picture or a gorgeous piece of macaroni art to show my appreciation.

But since I’m older now, I decided to ditch the macaroni art and make something that would delight her eyes and her taste buds.

I’m so excited because these cookies came out sooooo good and sooooo beautiful and thankfully they were super easy.

Edible Flower Lavender Shortbread

This recipe involves Shortbread dough, my floral cookie cutter, Lavender essential oil, powdered sugar, white chocolate martini mix and edible flowers.

For the Shortbread cookie dough:

1 cup butter

1/2 cup sugar

2 1/2 cups flour

Roll it out (I rolled mine very thin)

mothers day cookies

I love using this rolling pin, cover and cloth handed down from my Mom

I also have these 50 year old cookie cutters, loveee!

Bake for 14 minutes at 350 degrees.

Let them cool.

Now its time for the yummy icing BUT before you do we are going to infuse the cooled-cookie with a drop of Lavender oil.  There are so many things to do with this oil and adding it to food makes it a really special treat.

Here’s the Lavender oil that I recommend and use:

Chocolate Bunny Cocktails

Chocolate Bunny Cocktails

This is a bunny for you adults.

Because the kids are running around you during Spring Break.

Because your commute to work stinks.

Because the rat race is wearing you down.

Because.  Just because.

Some people like to meditate.

Some people like chocolate.

And some like a dash of liquor.

I like it all.

Here’s what you do — buy an extra bunny while you are out getting treats for the kids’ Easter baskets.  Or go all out and get the happiest chocolate around like I did, Belfine Easter Chocolate.  These Belgians kick ass at holiday chocolate and hell, they’re Belgian.  You are supposed to buy one thing from this country at all times – CHOCOLATE!

Use a very sharp knife to saw off those yummy ears or your own teeth.  Your call.

Pour in your choice of liquor, I chose Patron Espresso Liquor but you can also do the Dove Chocolate Martini Mix (you can’t lose).

Add some whip cream and a straw – the bunny is looking right at that whip cream.

Put the ears on and make it a great Spring.

This chocolate bowl is really, really easy and looks like a piece of art when you are finished.

For Easter, it can be the place to hold more chocolate.

Sounds like a plan to me!

You can see what you will need from the picture above.  It goes like this:

1. White Chocolate or Almond Bark

2. Wilton Melts – Orange

3. Citrus Fresh Essential Oil (this will give the bowl a burst of flavor)

4. Balloon

How to Make a Chocolate Bowl with balloons

In 2 separate containers, melt the orange melts and the white chocolate.  Add 5 drops of Citrus Oil to the Orange melts.  Then, inflate the balloon and start layering these chocolates.

I have this kit which is amazing for my health, wellness . . . .I use it to diffuse, cook, clean and for my skin.  I used the Citrus Fresh oil in this

Let it harden for about 30 minutes.  You might want to layer again after it hardens.  This will drip off the balloon a bit so place on a cookie sheet or wax paper for easy clean up.

Turn it over.  Pop the balloon (I use a piece of tape so it doesn’t pop but slowly deflates).

Spring has officially arrived… And Easter is almost here! What I have for you is a decadent, moist Eater Chocolate Cake!!! Excited?

I could look at pictures of chopped chocolate all day.  Yum!

This was a fun chocolate ganache to create.

Chocolate ganache is chocolate + heavy whipping cream.  Due to the wide variety of chocolate I purchase from around the globe, I thought it would be fun if I used a bar of Brix Chocolate for starters.

I bought the set and used the Dark Chocolate bar for a big punch.

This bar was made for wine tastings but I don’t follow rules, especially when it comes to chocolate.

Then I decided to add another bar with its Origins in Venezuela.

This bar is sublime which comes from the chocolate shop Sublime in Allen, TX.

Its a beautiful bar.

Its well made.

Its smooth and delicious.  Just the right balance of bite and milkiness.

To a cup of chopped chocolate, add about 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream and stir away.

The Upper East Side’s 4 Sweetest Chocolate Shops

Pop culture has regularly characterized the Upper East Side as a destination to be avoided, void of the true essence of New York and stifled by the rich.   But I couldn’t disagree more, I find the the Upper East Side a steady and classic foundation to the city full of character, small shops, large shops and iconic places to frequent.
